Any thoughts... I'm looking for a good street type belt harness that only requires one slot above the seatback. (Original style seats)
Looking at CROW cam lock, 4 point, belts but I'm unsure of Y vs V type belts.

I had to update my RCI belts for drag racing, and could't get the V-harness(single slot)anymore.I switched to the double shoulder harness with cam lock and don't like em.I'm used to the duckbill lock where you can just use the lap belts for a quick jont. With the camlock you have to use the sub belt, feels like your strapping on a parachute.just my 2cents

Simpson is still selling the V-Belt and is SFI 16.1 or 16.5 approved. These are not approved for any competition? They are on there site right now.

ALL shoulder belts that do NOT cross the chest (IE: Stock three point belts) will NOT prevent you from submarining under the belt UNLESS you wear the fifth/sixth point of the belt, as uncomfortable as it may sound. Even your old RCI and the stock Simpsons will ONLY work with the crotch strap properly installed and used.

If you only want to wear a lap belt or wear a "harness" without a crotch strap you should investigate Schroth restraints and their ASM (anti-submarine mechanism) which prevents the torso from submarining under the lap belt by allowing a small amount of upper body twist during belt compression.

I don't want to sound like a salesman or a safety nazi, but too many people wear race level restraints improperly on the street and they will NOT help you in the unfortunate event of a wreck, and we need all the safety help we can on these light cars with their minimal protection as they sit.

See this post for explanations and photos...

My car is a MKII, and it of course came with a single belt slot behind each seat, and with the Y-belts that fit that setup. I since learned, as most everyone here now knows, that the trend is moving towards double shoulder belts. So I modified my chassis to handle the double belts (the MKIII already comes that way), because I convinced myself that I might have a difficult time finding Y-belts when replacement time comes up in a number of years. The modification wasn't difficult, and it works fine.

run the 2 shoulder (V-belt) and install the 5th point submarine belt. That way, if you want to do a fun beginner level track day they wont hassle you. I had to change mine. I have a MarkII that originally came with a Y-belt.
